  Vision Statement  
     
 

The Literacy Council of St. Petersburg is a non-profit, 501(c)3 Corporation, consisting of a Board of Directors. The corporate officers are the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary.

Our Board wants to hear from you! We welcome new members to the board of directors, if you have any ideas for enhancing our programs, please let us know. Please call (727) 521-1117, or email us at board@stpetereads.com, or better yet, attend our next board meeting. Check our Event Calendar to the left, for the next board meeting. We are looking forward to many successes this year and wish to thank everyone for their continued support with helping our program grow.


Board Members

President - Ann Palmer
Ann Palmer has served as President of the Literacy Council of St. Petersburg (LCSP) since 2009 and a tutor since 2005. She serves as Tutor Coordinator at Northeast and Lakewood Community Centers, as well as Trainer and Program Director. Prior to joining the Literacy Council, Ann lived in New Mexico where she began her tutoring career in 2002. As a Proliteracy America certified trainer, she has facilitated numerous tutor trainings in and around the Tampa Bay area. Ann is the recipient of the 2011 Florida Literacy Coalition's "Outstanding Literacy Volunteer Award." Ann has received numerous state and local volunteer awards. Ann is passionate about advocating literacy.

Vice President - Eileen Dardis
Eileen Dardis is currently Vice President and the Site Coordinator for the LCSP Seminole site. Prior to joining LCSP, Eileen resided in New Jersey and was an active tutor with the Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., Passaic County, NJ. An avid reader from an early age, Eileen likes all varieties of fiction, self help/how-to books and is frequently reading cookbooks for the fun of it! Eileen is adept at working collaboratively with others and is passionate about literacy. She enjoys learning, tutoring and celebrating even the small achievements.

Secretary - Bonnie Mettetal
Bonnie Mettetal has served as Secretary of the LCSP since 2009 and as the former president of READ Pinellas and the former project manager of the Even Start Family Literacy Program. In addition, she has worked in Pinellas County Schools since 1994. Bonnie was the recipient of the 2006 Pinellas Adult, Career and Technical Education Association Outstanding Non-Classroom Instructional Personnel Award. She is also very active with the St. Petersburg Ladies of Elks Auxiliary and St. Petersburg Community Church.

Treasurer - Ellen Hockett
Ellen Hockett is new to LCSP, having served as Treasurer since 2010. Ellen is currently employed by SunTrust Bank and is active in her community. Prior to working with the bank, Ellen was employed by Grace Lutheran School as a school Media Specialist, where her love of reading was shared with children.
